Future Unicorn🦄 #207: Vervoe
Ditch the resume, hire for skills
The Quild Future Unicorn highlights one future of work early-stage startup with statistically significant signals of becoming a unicorn.
Vervoe helps employers make hiring decisions based on how well candidates can actually do the job instead of how good they look on paper. Vervoe replaces the traditional hiring process with skills assessments and gives every candidate an opportunity to showcase their talent by doing job-related tasks. Then, machine learning models to automatically rank candidates based on how well they perform.

Top institution/company alumni

Top university alumni
Omer graduated from University of Melbourne (BS, LLM)

The world needs this (caveat: not a statistically significant signal)
The team at Vervoe might hate how Quild is using resume-like signals to evaluate the potential of Vervoe - which is the opposite of Vervoe’s mission of looking at skills instead of (resume) signals to evaluate people. But I want to highlight Vervoe because the world needs to go beyond resumes for hiring decisions. Resumes and LinkedIn are still useful, but are suboptimal for long-term partnerships like hiring a new teammate.
Favorite restaurant at the moment: Ilcha, a modern Korean restaurant. The cured shrimp and fried chicken are divine. The hotpots are amazing too.
